For in-depth learning with plenty of individual attention and participation, our Classroom Workshops are the way to go. Each workshop is 45 minutes long and can be presented up to four times for 30 students per session. Workshops are available for all grades and cover a wide range of topics.
Grades: K – 10 | Length: 45 minutes | Rates and Fees: $725.00 for 4 workshop sessions (2 additional programs of the same classroom workshop presented on the same day: $195.00) | Travel Fee: $95.00.
Balls & Tracks | Grades: 3 – 7
What forces of science help ski jumpers become champions? Using marbles as “ski jumpers,” this hands-on program introduces the fundamental laws of motion and how they affect how far and how fast a ski jumper can go.
2009 NJCCCS: 5.1.A, 5.1.B, 5.1.C, 5.1.D, 5.2.C, 5.2.D, 5.2.E, 5.4.A

Chemistry of the Stars | Grades: 6 – 10
How do astronomers determine the chemical composition of stars millions of light years away? Learn about atomic spectra, flame tests and other tools used in space science.
2009 NJCCCS: 5.1 A, 5.1.B, 5.2.A, 5.4.A

Energy: Use It and Lose it | Grades: 6 – 9
Energy comes in many forms; we use it and lose it every day. Through hands-on experimentation your students will explore energy transformations, analyze the conversions, and understand the losses.
2009 NJCCCS: 5.1.A, 5.1.B, 5.1.C, 5.1.D, 5.2.C, 5.2.D

Owl Pellet Dissection | Grades: 2 – 5
Explore the diet of our favorite raptors by dissecting the undigested remains of their prey. Students will pair off to dissect their own owl pellet and identify the remains of what the owl consumed. This is a great introduction to the food web and to vertebrate anatomy.
2009 NJCCCS: 5.3.A, 5.3.B, 5.3.C, 5.3.E

Settling Down | Grades: 1 – 2
Can rocks turn into sand? Can sand turn into rocks? Our science educators will help students explore the sedimentary rock portion of the rock cycle as a first step in opening up the wonderful world of earth sciences to them.
2009 NJCCCS: 5.1.B, 5.1.D, 5.4.C

The States of Matter | Grades: 2 – 6
Using super-cold liquid nitrogen, common household items and student volunteers, Liberty Science Center educators demonstrate how and why things change from solid to liquid to gas. Students will develop a better sense of the physical world around them through this “really cool” exploration of matter.
2009 NJCCCS: 5.1.A, 5.1.B, 5.1.C, 5.1.D, 5.2.A, 5.2.B, 5.2.C, 5.4.G
