Training & Requirements

Minimum Age Requirement

Applicants must be at least 14 years old and a freshman in high school to volunteer independently. Applicants between the ages of 10 and 13 may volunteer with a parent or guardian. Ask us about opportunities for Family Volunteering.

Minimum Time Commitment

We appreciate the time and talent offered by our volunteers and offer flexible scheduling seven days a week. We ask that you commit to at least:

• one four-hour shift once a week if you volunteer on weekdays
• one four-hour shift every other weekend if you volunteer on weekends

Orientation and Training

Each candidate is interviewed to determine whether the volunteer and Liberty Science Center are a good fit for one another. Upon acceptance of an offer, each new volunteer receives an organizational orientation, including a tour of the building, and specific job training.
