How many hours am I required to volunteer? Liberty Science Center asks for a commitment of at least 125 hours however there are many volunteers who contribute hours and days beyond the minimum requirement and return year after year.
How old must I be to volunteer? Volunteers must be 14 years of age to volunteer independently in our exhibits. Children between the ages of 10-13 can volunteer with a family member.
What happens after I submit my volunteer application? You should receive an e-mail within 10 business days inviting you to a volunteer interview. If accepted into the program, you will need to attend a one-day training session. Once you have started you will shadow an experienced volunteer until you are comfortable working on your own. The entire application and training process takes approximately one month.
Is there a volunteer uniform? Yes. Volunteers are required to wear a blue Liberty Science Center shirt and lime green lanyard (which we will supply) so that you are easy to identify on our exhibit floors. Volunteers are also asked to wear khaki pants and brown or black shoes. We recommend purchasing comfortable shoes as well as a watch to wear during your volunteer shift.
Does Liberty Science Center offer any benefits to their volunteers? We recognize the tremendous value that volunteers provide through their time and talents. The benefit package we offer reflects our commitment to our volunteers and sincere gratitude for their service.
