Ms. Symes was most recently General Counsel for Dixon Advisory USA, advising senior management on corporate governance, risk management, and transactional matters.

Prior to joining Dixon Advisory USA, Symes was counsel and Director of Constituent Affairs for US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. In that capacity, she ran a statewide intergovernmental and constituent services department tasked with resolving matters for more than 10,000 municipalities, businesses, nonprofits, and households annually. In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, her role expanded and she worked in the most devastated areas connecting communities to federal government agencies, becoming the office’s in-state expert on federal disaster recovery funding.

Symes began her career as a staff attorney with Housing Conservation Coordinators, a nonprofit, representing low-income New Yorkers in civil legal matters. In 2015, she was chosen to join the New Jersey Chapter of New Leaders Council, a competitive five-month entrepreneurship, leadership, and political management training program.

A proud resident of Jersey City, Symes volunteers with Harsimus Cove Neighborhood Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and The Waterfront Project—Jersey City’s only community-based legal services nonprofit. She serves on the board of the Jersey City Free Public Library. Symes received her Bachelor of Arts from Ithaca College and her Juris Doctor from the Catholic University of America, where she was the Dulin Haynes Memorial Fellow. She is a licensed attorney, admitted to both the New York and the New Jersey Bar.
