May 18 is Endangered Species Day, an initiative spearheaded by the National Wildlife Federation to recognize the importance of wildlife conservation and restoration efforts to all imperiled species.

On this day, join us at LSC for special activities and presentations all about helping our animal friends!

Touch a hippopotamus skull, parrot feathers, snakeskin, and more in our Animal Artifacts Zone. Meet Mickey the green-winged macaw and learn about the second-largest macaw in the world. Young learners can learn about the rainforest and its inhabitants in our Rainforest Rescuers activity.

You can also meet our cotton-top tamarin monkeys, who are recognized as a "critically endangered" species. Sadly, that is only two steps away from extinct. Watch the tamarins enjoy a meal and chat with our animal team about how they live.
