War of the Worlds 2018: An 80th Anniversary Celebration of the Original Broadcast

In 1938, the soon-to-be-famous director Orson Welles and the Mercury Theater of the Air caused a nationwide alarm with a realistic-sounding radio broadcast reporting that Martians had landed in New Jersey.

On Oct. 30 only at Liberty Science Center, we're celebrating this science fiction milestone with a live recreation of the “night that panicked America” in the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium—the biggest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere! Experience this tale of Martian invasion as never before, with full-dome images and video on an 89-foot screen, live music and sound effects, and real laser beams.

Before and after the show, have a look at Mars (the actual planet!) through our telescopes, weather permitting.

Be there Oct. 30 at 8:00 pm for this incredible event celebrating sci-fi history. Get discounted online tickets now at $20 for adults and $18 for kids 12 and under. LSC members receive a discounted price at $17 for adults, and $15 for kids.

Note: This special, one-night event is not included in general LSC admission. Tickets must be purchased separately. Thanks!
