Cotton-top tamarin monkeys. Naked mole rats. Red-footed tortoises. A rose hair tarantula! Liberty Science Center is home to 100+ fascinating animal species. Come visit them in our Wild About Animals exhibition.

ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS

Wild About Animals now features a state-of-the-art presentation space for animal programming and new interactive exhibits focused on citizen science and local wildlife—Animal Encounters. LSC’s presenters introduce guests to our resident animals in a stunning space with the NYC skyline as a backdrop. Live animals on display include the Eastern box turtle, corn snake, and carpet python.

Highlights

  • A custom mural by artist Sarah Dennis features Liberty State Park species. How many can you spot?
  • Play a game of Guess Who? featuring 16 bird species.
  • Learn to make home “boxes” for bees, bats, and birds.
  • Don’t miss the animal tracks and the scat they leave behind embedded into various surfaces in the exhibit.
  • Become a citizen scientist! Participate in several real research projects such as Squirrel Spotter, which tracks populations of gray and black squirrels in urban settings. (Scan the code in the exhibit to learn more.)
