Let’s make music, build complex structures, create art, explore new foods, and much more—together!

Join us from April 7-11 for a week of very special programming! LSC’s STEM Education department celebrates the nationally observed Week of the Young Child every year. Learners from Pre-K to Grade 2 and their educators are invited to join us for special programming matched to each day’s theme. Let’s make music, build complex structures, create art, explore new foods, and much more—together!

Event Highlights:

Music Monday (10am-4pm)

  • Chrome Music Lab’s Kandinsky Art: Turn your digital art into music and sounds right before your eyes and ears! Make a drawing and see what it sounds like,
  • Den Den Drums: Use a variety of very simple materials to construct your own den den drum to keep. Celebrate another culture’s musical instrument.
  • Large Floor Piano: Toe tap your way on a giant floor piano to celebrate the day!

Tasty Tuesday (10am-4pm)

  • Turtle Feeding: Help us keep our Eastern box turtle healthy during this live turtle feeding. What foods do you think we should use to feed our turtle today?
  • The Very Hungry Caterpillar Read Aloud: Enjoy the classic children’s story from Eric Carle, followed by a meet-and-greet with LSC's in-house tomato hornworm.
  • Cook with Chef Robbie Felice: Join James Beard Award Nominee Robbie Felice in a family cooking class using child-friendly tools to make your very own meal. (Space is limited to 100 guests. Free tickets will be distributed on site—first come, first served.)
    • Special scheduled time slots: 11am, 12pm, 2pm, and 3pm.

Work Together Wednesday (10am-4pm)

  • Superspace Tiles: Build a structure of your pure imagination using extra-large magnetic tiles. From ships and planes to homes and cars, we’ve seen all kinds of structures. What will you make?

Artsy Thursday (10am-4pm)

  • LSC Mosaic: Help celebrate Artsy Thursday as we spell out the letters LSC using colorful dots. Use as many colors as you’d like to help bring our colorful mosaic to life.

  • Cockroach Painting: Help us choose the colors our cockroaches will use to create a cool, original painting.
  • Scribble Robots: Learners will create artwork using a small 3D-printed robot that can draw with a marker.

Family Friday (10am-4pm)

  • Family Resource Fair: From caricature painters to university research partners, join us for this fun, family-friendly resource fair in our building to meet partners ready to speak about ways they can support your child’s growth and development.
