The Great Eclipse

Join us for New Jersey's Largest Astronomy Party! On Monday, April 8, 2024, you're invited to celebrate The Great Eclipse at Liberty Science Center.

On that day, the sun will be 91.2% covered in a near-total eclipse. You won't see anything like this again until 2044.

Schedule:

  • 10:00 am: LSC opens for the day – come early and spend some time in The Science Behind Pixar, Wild Kratts: Ocean Adventure!, or one of our other immersive exhibitions
  • 1 pm: The Great Eclipse celebration begins, as we unveil our special activities, adventures, webcast, and more
  • 2:10 pm: At this time, the moon starts to move in front of the sun, and the eclipse officially starts
  • 3:25 pm: Here is the deepest coverage of the sun by the moon, with 91.2% of the sun covered
  • 4:36 pm: The eclipse ends!
