Liberty Science Center’s OpenSciEd Middle and High School Professional Learning Series - Summer 2024

LSC News

Liberty Science Center, in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Education, is offering two professional learning (PL) series during the summer of 2024 for middle and high school science teachers. These sessions are focused on the OpenSciEd Curriculum Launch, preparing each participant for effective implementation of OpenSciEd. Below is a brief outline of the activities occurring on each of the three days in the respective PL series:

  • Day 1: Focus on introducing the OpenSciEd instructional model, engaging in the anchoring phenomenon routine, and beginning the unit storyline.
  • Day 2: Focus on unit sample lessons (from both a teacher and student perspective), continue unit storylining, and continue exposure to effective instructional elements.
  • Day 3: Focus on further lessons from the respective unit, further explore effective instructional practices, and participate in a time for questions and answers.

Please note that these professional learning series are free of charge for teachers.

Please see the individual descriptions below for dates, times, locations, and registration links for each Middle School and High School Professional Learning Series.
