Science Camp is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) focused program. It is about moving forward, solving problems, learning, and pushing innovation to the next level. STEM is considered one of the most important areas of K-12 education, and is currently part of many national initiatives. Through hands-on activities, campers explore the various weekly topics. Campers also build life skills like collaboration, innovative thinking, and effective communication.
If a course includes an off-site field trip, parents will be notified in advance, and detailed information (e.g., location, transportation, etc.) and necessary permission forms will be distributed.
Before care is from 8:00 - 8:45 am, and is available for $15 per day. After care is $20 per day and is from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. Campers can register for 1 to 5 days of before care, after care, or both to best fit your family’s schedule.
Campers will have structured museum exploration daily. After each Friday Family Showcase, the whole family is welcome to spend the last hour of the day in our galleries from 4:00 - 5:00 pm at no additional charge.
Campers are dropped off or picked up inside LSC at our Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT). When arriving, please enter the building with your camper and go through security. Then head to the left of the stairs to reach the CLT for your camper to be checked in or out by camp staff. Vehicles parked in our lot for 30 minutes or less do not pay the parking fee. Older campers can be permitted to self-dismiss; for more information, please contact the Camp Office.
No, transportation to and from camp is not provided.
Camper registration is completed online through CampInTouch. This link will take you directly to our Camper Application. Most sessions sell out quickly, so to reserve a place for your camper in their favorite topic, we recommend early registration. There is a $150.00 deposit required at the time of registration per camp session. Full tuition payment is due by June.
Members: $1000.00 per week; Nonmembers $1050.00 per week
Tuition includes inquiry-based STEM curriculum, professional instruction, all course materials, camp T-shirt & aluminum water bottle, snacks, museum exploration, and off-site field trips when applicable.
Memberships must be maintained throughout the summer to qualify for the member rate. An LSC membership includes discounts, special events, free admission to LSC and partner museums, and more. A sibling discount is also available for families with multiple campers.
Deposits paid at registration are non-refundable. All other tuition payments are refundable up until May 1. LSC cannot refund any payments to campers who cancel on or after May 1. Program Protector insurance is available through our camper application for unforeseen circumstances. We strongly suggest that families utilize this insurance to protect their investment.
Yes, and it’s risk-free. If your desired camp is full, you can register for the waitlist by submitting a completed application. No deposit is required to register for the waitlist, and should a spot become available, you will be contacted by Camp Administration. If your plans have changed, you can decline the spot.
Class size is limited to 20 campers per class, with at least 2 camp staff at all times. This ratio lets us ensure we can give all campers the support they need when tackling new challenges.
Our professional educators and staff have a wide variety of educational backgrounds to match the breadth of our curriculum, but all are dedicated to and passionate about STEM education.
A Science Camp T-shirt, and comfortable, sturdy footwear. Please, no open-toed shoes or flip-flops. Camper T-shirts are distributed on the first day of camp. They should be worn daily to identify your child as a camp participant. Extra shirts are available for $10 and can be purchased during registration or camp while supplies last.
Weather permitting, campers will be outdoors for recess and other activities, so we recommend dressing in layers for indoor air conditioning and outdoor fun.
Sunscreen, a hat, or other sun protection for time outside, plus a light sweatshirt in case your camper gets chilly when indoors. Campers will also be given a refillable water bottle that they are welcome to bring daily.
Don’t worry, we have a Lost & Found. If a camper loses an article of clothing or other possession, it will be held in the Camp Office until the end of the week, at which point it will be turned over to LSC Security. Lost articles must be picked up at LSC and cannot be mailed or hand-delivered.
All supplies needed for each session will be provided. Campers’ personal electronic devices (laptops, tablets, etc.) are not permitted at camp and should be left at home. Cell phone use is also not permitted while at camp.
No. Weekly lunch plans are available for purchase during registration. LSC will provide each camper with a healthy afternoon snack and water every day.
If a weekly lunch plan is not purchased, the camper’s family must provide a brown bag lunch and drink. Please do not send lunches that require refrigeration or warming. These services will not be available. Soda is not permitted in camp.
Please note that campers cannot purchase lunch from our cafe.
LSC is NOT a nut-free nor a gluten-free facility. We will work with you to try to accommodate your camper’s dietary needs. Please complete the relevant forms via registration and advise the camp staff of any food allergies or sensitivities before your camper’s session begins.
Parents/Guardians must submit a Medical Care Plan for any child who will have medication at camp. These action plans are the same as a school would require. Both over-the-counter and prescription medication must be in its original packaging and match the Medical Care Plan. Additional paperwork may be required, and our full Health and Wellness policies are outlined in the Parent Handbook.
All medications will be safely stored in the camp office during the day, except for properly labeled and approved asthma inhalers or Epi-Pens. Please complete the relevant forms during registration and discuss your camper’s needs with the Camp Director before the first day of camp.
