Laura Overdeck, Vice Chair

Founder, Bedtime Math

Laura Overdeck founded Bedtime Math to help young children embrace and excel at math. She is the author of Bedtime Math’s nightly online math problems as well as four best-selling Bedtime Math books (Macmillan). The nonprofit is also creator of Crazy 8s, the nation’s largest recreational after-school math club, and is now developing Fun Factor, a fully hands-on K - 5 math curriculum. She also chairs Overdeck Family Foundation, which supports STEM education reform and recently helped launch the NJ Tutoring Corps in response to the pandemic.

Ms. Overdeck is an alumna and former trustee of Princeton University, where she earned a BA in astrophysics. She also holds an MBA from the Wharton School and an honorary doctorate from Stevens Institute of Technology. In addition to Liberty Science Center, she serves on the boards of Khan Academy and the Pingry School, and the advisory councils for Princeton’s Department of Astrophysical Sciences, Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, and New Jersey Governor’s School. She lives in New Jersey with her husband, John, and their three children.
