Thomas & Friends: Explore the Rails

Kids can learn, play, and solve problems with Thomas the Tank Engine and his engine friends while immersing themselves in locations from the beloved TV series. Young learners can practice counting objects, comparing sizes, and learning colors. Older kids can practice their math skills, learn basic engineering concepts, discover science ideas through play, and see how technology works to keep engines running. The smiling faces of Thomas, Percy, Victor, and others are there to offer encouragement.

In the exhibition, kids can:

  • Climb into the iconic blue train cab and explore the engine’s inner workings as they whistle and steam
  • Dress in a conductor’s uniform then load and sort freight and baggage onto train cars
  • Take a photo next to a mural of Thomas and Sir Topham Hatt
  • Create routes or spurs with toy trains and track pieces, build bridges, and travel around the entire island at the Island Exploration Table

Fix Percy’s engine with oversized nuts, bolts, wheels, rods, and wrenches and get him ready to chug at Sodor Steamworks

Thomas & Friends™: Explore the Rails was created by Minnesota Children’s Museum in partnership with Mattel, Inc. The exhibit is nationally presented by Mattel.
