Biochemist, Miss America 2020
Last December, viewers of the Miss America contest watched in astonishment as Camille Schrier demonstrated the catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide onstage. In a bold step forward for the competition, Schrier became Miss America 2020 on the strength of her expertise as a biochemist, her advocacy for women in STEM disciplines, and her passion for promoting drug safety. She holds dual B.S. degrees in biochemistry and systems biology from Virginia Tech and is pursuing her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.
