Some “stranger things” are happening at Liberty Science Center! LSC After Dark: The Upside Down is on Oct. 17 from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Click here for tickets!

Break out the Eggo waffles and New Coke! Our next 21+ LSC After Dark event is inspired by the hit Netflix series. Both fans and non-fans will have a blast at this Halloween party straight out of Hawkins, Indiana.

Don’t have your ticket yet? Let us convince you. Here are 19 reasons you can’t miss LSC After Dark: The Upside Down:

1) The Touch Tunnel becomes the Upside Down!

If you’ve been to Liberty Science Center before, there’s a good chance you’ve experienced our most popular exhibition, the Touch Tunnel! But this month, we’re turning it into the gates of the Upside Down! Are you brave enough to enter our 80-foot, crawl-through, pitch-black tunnel and make it out safely like Will Byers – or are you destined to end up like Barb?

2) The Mind Flayer Slime Lab

Those of you who watched Season 3 of Stranger Things will remember all the creepy moments the Mind Flayer turned its victims into slimy goo! You’ll get to make your own slime (complete with rats!) in our Mind Flayer Slime Lab, and even take it home with you.

3) Upside Down Goggles

How well would you survive in the Upside Down? In one of our Stranger Things-inspired activities, you’ll get to wear goggles that make your vision turn totally upside down! Try completing ‘80s-inspired games while wearing the goggles and see who in your group is the most successful.

4) Doom Zoo

Our Halloween activities don’t stop with Stranger Things. Thrill-seekers will love the return of our Doom Zoo haunted walkthrough. Home to nauseating, tormented mutants, the Doom Zoo is bigger and scarier than ever this year. Will you make it all the way to the end – or will you be added to our Tear Tally, a checklist of all the people who chickened out?

5) The Spider Maze

Investigators from the Paranormal Assistance & Research Association and UnScene paranormal web series are joining us again this month! They’ll have a table displaying the equipment they use, as well as audio and video clips of their findings.

You can also enjoy their special presentation in the Joseph D. Williams 3D Science Theater at 8:00 pm (included in general admission).

13) Alphabet Light Wall

Joyce Byers isn’t the only one trying to communicate using alphabet Christmas lights – now you can too! In our special Stranger Things-inspired lab, we’ve set up alphabet lights that you can use to communicate a message to your friend standing on the other side. Discover the science of light and engineering in our activity inspired by one of the most iconic moments from the show.

14) Castle Byers Illusion Chamber

Break out the camera for our special activity inspired by Castle Byers and the science of illusion!

In the Castle Byers Illusion Chamber, you’ll sit in a chair and use a remote to control the intensity of light in the room. Via a glass positioned at a 45-degree angle, you’ll appear to vanish and reappear as if you were a ghost!

This trick is all based on the famous Pepper’s ghost technique, which is often used in haunted houses to create the illusion of ghosts disappearing and reappearing. It’s all a trick of reflection and light intensity!

15) Stranger Things Game Room

Make some time to check out our Stranger Things Game Room! Here, you can chill out and play some Stranger Things board games, as well as a giant Dungeons & Dragons game that we’ve created specifically for this event!

16) Discover eco-friendly initiatives and cutting-edge technology at the Innovation Station

LSC After Dark: The Upside Down isn’t just about Halloween and Stranger Things! Be sure to stop by our Innovation Station, where we highlight the latest in must-see technological innovations. This month, we’re joined by the companies Ribbit and Fetch.

Ribbit is an app that connects people to eco-friendly spots to eat and drink. It’s a great way to help support restaurants that care about the environment and support a sustainable future!

Fetch is an app that enables people to get internet access from their smartphones to their computers without a hotspot. It’s a great way to create more affordable and faster internet usage – a safe and secure cyber alternative to using public and non-secured WiFi networks!
