A couple got engaged in the Touch Tunnel and everyone is talking about it!
Earlier this month, Hoboken resident Vincent Brandonisio took his girlfriend Toni-Anne Barone on a trip to Liberty Science Center for what she thought would simply be a nice date. But when they were crawling through our famous Touch Tunnel, Vincent surprised Toni-Anne with a ring – a plan that had been in the works for weeks, and coordinated with the help of LSC event staff.
How was Toni-Anne able to see the ring, you might ask, since the Touch Tunnel is pitch black? LSC staff members turned on the lights right as Vincent and Toni-Anne were crawling toward the end of the tunnel. At first Toni-Anne was confused why the lights suddenly turned on. But when she saw the ring right in front of her, she knew exactly what was happening.
Toni-Anne said “yes,” and we were lucky enough to catch the entire moment on camera!
What makes the proposal even more special is the fact that Toni-Anne, admittedly, was scared of the Touch Tunnel as a child. We’re happy she can now look back at our most popular exhibit with fonder memories.
The romantic gesture has been picked up by several news outlets. Read more about it on Patch.com, Inside Edition and CBS New York.
