Beyond Rubik's Cube day 30 - prototype Rubik's cube

LSC News Beyond Rubik's Cube

We’re 30 days away from the opening of Beyond Rubik’s Cube! As part of the countdown, we’ll reveal a new behind-the-scenes look at the exhibition every day!

The prototype Rubik’s Cube is one of those artifacts you just can’t help but smile at.

It’s a loose assembly of wooden blocks and paperclips that looks more like a weekend experiment your husband cobbled together than a groundbreaking prototype, but this simple game would go on to influence millions of designers, gamers, writers, filmmakers, and artists around the world. It would find its way into the hands of 1 out of every 7 people on the planet, and become the best-selling game of all time.

In Beyond Rubik’s Cube you’ll explore the Cube’s origins and learn more about its inventor, Erno Rubik.

Awesome to think that we’ve spent the past three years developing a 7000 sq. ft. world-class exhibition about the Rubik’s Cube, and it all started with some wood and paperclips.
