Congratulations to biochemist and LSC Genius Award winner Dr. Katalin Karikò for winning the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine!

Dr. Karikò, along with her collaborator Drew Weissman, won the prize for her work that led to the COVID-19 vaccines being administered to millions of people across the globe.

Dr. Karikò was honored last May at LSC’s Genius Gala. This is the second time we've given the Genius Award to a scientist before they were called to Stockholm. The first was astrophysicist Kip Thorne, who discovered gravitational waves and helped Christopher Nolan with the film Interstellar.
