Jersey City students from M.E.T.S. Charter School program apps at Liberty Science Center

This week students from M.E.T.S. Charter School in Jersey City piloted a new program at Liberty Science Center that teaches classes how to program mobile applications for an Android phone.

Each student was given a mobile phone and taught the basics of app programing. After a brief tutorial, the students were encouraged to create their own mobile game similar to one of the original video games, Pong.

The workshop is one of our brand new STEM programming options available for High School students. We’re proud to kick it off this week and join other educators and institutions in celebrating Computer Science Education Week.
