Love and science fill the air for LSC After Dark's 'Sexy Science' party

LSC After Dark

Who ever said science wasn’t sexy? Not us! Last night, Liberty Science Center was packed as we threw a “Sexy Science” party, the latest in our LSC After Dark monthly event series for guests 21 and over.

It was an evening filled with dancing, drinking, and erotic experiments. Oh, and did we mention pole fitness?

Immediately upon entering the building, guests were treated to a lesson in pole exercise from instructors at the Alter Ego Pole Fitness and Wellness Studio. In addition to learning sexy new moves, the partiers also got to learn about muscles in their bodies

There was a lot to learn at this party, but don’t get the wrong idea – this wasn’t eighth grade health class! In our explosive condom lab, people got to stretch their limits of what they know about condoms via games and experiments.

We also received a virtual visit from biologist Dr. Winnifred Cutler, co-discoverer of human pheromones and founder of the Athena Institute. Via iPad, Dr. Cutler traveled through the building and answered people’s questions about pheromones and how they encourage sexual attraction among humans. We even gave out bottled pheromones to several lucky guests, courtesy of the Athena Institute.

Just like at every LSC After Dark party, people indulged their appetite with delicious food – such as chipotle chicken grilled cheese and beer-brined chicken skewers – and were tempted by cocktails such as passion fruit margarita and Sex on the Beach.

But at this party, we also offered a tequila and mezcal tasting, courtesy of Jersey Wine and Spirits in Jersey City.

Things were hot and steamy on the dance floor, where DJ Super J rocked it all night along with our host, Hayoner, and our LSC After Dark Ambassador, ChicpeaJC.

All the exhibits in the Science Center were open, including the Touch Tunnel, Infinity Climber, Rock Wall and our new Illusion exhibit. Over in our massive IMAX Dome Theater, we debuted a new Foo Fighters laser show.

We also partnered with Day Trippers, a Jersey City-based transportation company, to give guests free rides to the party. People showed up at the Grove Street PATH Station, where the Day Trippers party bus picked them up and brought them to the Science Center. When the night was over, the party bus took the riders back to Grove Street.
