LSC hosts state-wide World Robot Olympiad competition

LSC News

On Saturday, August 5, Liberty Science Center hosted eleven robotics teams for the state’s World Robotics Olympiad! This was the first time the World Robot Olympiad has been held at LSC, with competitors ranging in age from elementary school-aged children to high school seniors.

Unlike many robotics competitions where teams have months to build and test their robots, the World Robot Olympiad works a little differently. Competitors only have a general understanding of their mission, and they don't learn about the design of the course until the morning of the competition. This forces them to construct their robots on the spot without any help from parents or coaches.

The winning teams will go on to compete in the national competition in North Carolina in September with the hope of representing the United States at the world competition in Costa Rica later this year.
