LSC’s Science on a Sphere visualizes the alarming issue of melting sea ice

Sea ice is melting at an alarming rate. Via our Science on a Sphere, you can see the North Pole lose approximately 2 trillion tons of its September sea ice between 1991 and 2018.

But that’s just one of many troubling facts. The planet’s average temperature has risen about 1.62 degrees Fahrenheit since the late 19th century, and over the past century, global ocean level has risen 8 inches.
