Meet snakes and spiders at the Fang-Tastic Live Animal Show

LSC News

Halloween is in full-force at Liberty Science Center, with creepy outdoor and indoor adventures happening every day through Oct. 31! (Click here to see the full list.)

One of these adventures includes our Fang-Tastic Live Animal Show, held daily in our Eat and Be Eaten exhibition. You'll get to meet some of LSC's creepiest creatures up-close at this Halloween-themed presentation, including snakes, spiders, and more. You'll also get to see real animal bio-facts, including a fully articulated snake skeleton.

Here are a few quick facts about some of the creatures that are highlighted in the show:

  • A gaboon viper snake can have fangs up to two inches long.
  • Venomous snakes can be found on every continent except for Antarctica. There are two species of venomous snakes here in New Jersey, one of which can be seen at LSC: the timber rattlesnake.
  • The fangs of black widow spiders are very small: only about 1mm, or 0.04 inches. On top of that, they are only able to inject a very small volume of venom: 0.02 – 0.03mg.

Ssssslither down to LSC this weekend and catch the show as part of our Halloween at LSC celebration!
