Our all-live planetarium show, Wonders of the Night Sky, features a new image of Jupiter's red spot from NASA Juno's recent flyover.
Jupiter’s Great Red Spot is perhaps the second most recognizable feature among all the planets of our solar system, after the rings of Saturn. The Great Red Spot is a swirling storm that has been observed on Jupiter’s atmosphere for at least the last 180 years. The storm rotates counter-clockwise, taking about six Earth days for a complete swirl. The red spot has shown signs of shrinking over the years, but is still 1.3 times larger than our entire planet.
