“We’re really attracted to the in-person, social nature of planetariums – experiencing something together, while still in this very immersive realm.”
We want to give a huge thanks to New Zealand artist Jess Johnson, who joined us in the planetarium last night as we screened her psychedelic musical odyssey, XYZZY, in its North American premiere!
XYZZY, co-presented with Pioneer Works, was created by Johnson and video director Simon Ward, who translated Johnson’s hand-drawn compositions into animated webs of flesh mandalas, self-replicating architecture, undulating worms, and hallucinogenic patterns. The music was made by Luke Rowell, Stef Animal, and Lachlan Anderson.
There are still chances to see XYZZY at an upcoming LSC After Dark event, on both May 2 and 9! Click here to learn more and grab your tickets now.
