PHOTOS: Behind-the-scenes of Dino Dig

LSC News

We spotted our team out back getting everything ready for Dino Dig's grand return, Saturday, June 30!

Dino Dig, our popular outdoor fossil dig site, returns this summer bigger and better than ever. We have more than 60 realistic, true-to-life fossils for you to dig up, buried beneath 35 tons of sand.

All the fossils are museum-quality replicas, and not made with concrete. A few of our new additions this year include the T-Rex skull, a baby Maiasaura, and skeletons of a Velociraptor and a Deinonychus.

Check out these behind-the-scenes photos of our team putting on the finishing touches:

One of our team members tracing out where some of the bone panels should go, before digging in the sand, in order to make sure our fossils are spread evenly through the dig site

The skeleton of our Deinonychus, one of our new species in the exhibition, laid out on a wooden panel before we attach it with wires
