First, we must say that all of the robots below are amazing.

No snark. We’re 100% blown away by what the competitors have assembled. The time, effort, engineering, and programming it takes to get all of the individual robot parts working together is staggering. It’s so impressive we’re running a whole IMAX movie about it. These teams have spent years preparing their robots for this DARPA competition, a competition that seems to be more important than ever. What you don’t see is all of the tasks the robots completed successfully. If you’d like to watch that video, the Wall Street Journal has an excellent roundup of the robot competition here.

For the rest of us, here are the stumbles on the robot path to success. Hopefully, in the near future, humanity will rely on robots to save lives. Until then…
