This October, we have two BASF Kids’ Labs FREE for guests of Liberty Science Center to get a hands-on look at the wonders of chemistry– We Dig Soil (Oct. 4) and Playful Polymers (Oct. 18)!
In We Dig Soil, embark on a muddy adventure as we dig deep into the world beneath our feet! Learn about different types of soil and what makes them the right choice for your project. Sandy, clay, silt, loamy… which ones do you think will be the best?
Once you learn the essentials of soil science, make your own soil base that you get to take home and use in your own garden! You’ll even get to meet the worms that call Liberty Science Center’s composting bin home. Join us to discover the secrets of soil, where tiny creatures make homes, plants grow tall, and mysteries await exploration!
But that's not all! On October 18, you’ll get to take part in the slippery, ooey-gooey lab Playful Polymers. Yep… that's slime! Use a polymer and an activator to create your own sticky concoction that will allow you to understand how different atoms, molecules, and household materials bond together to create gooey substances we know like chewing gum, Jell-O, and even some plastics. Your slimy creation is yours to keep!
Both of these labs will have continuous attendance from 11:00am-3:30pm on their respective days in the Microbes Rule! Lab at Liberty Science Center. We can’t wait to see you there!
The BASF Kids’ Lab is designed for children ages 6–12, with at least one adult chaperone per four children. Participation is free with paid LSC admission or membership.
