The capes come out for LSC After Dark: Superheroes party
On May 17, 2018, guests listened to their Spidey senses and headed straight to Liberty Science Center for LSC After Dark: Superheroes, our latest LSC After Dark event for guests 21 and over!
Visitors packed the building for a night of superhuman adventures, including multiple experiments and activities that explored the science behind classic superhero stories.
A few of these activities included “Thor’s Hammer,” where guests tried to pick up the god’s hammer which was weighed down by electromagnetism, and the “Archery Range,” where guests channeled the marksmanship of Green Arrow and Hawkeye by testing their archery skills.
In PSE&G Court, we were joined by multiple comic book vendors, including East Side Mags, Thought Bubble Comics, Gotham Comics, Highlander Games & Comics, Comic Collision, and Mark’s T-Shirts, as well as two illustrators, Crees Hyung Lee and Liana Kangas.
We were also joined by Batman himself (!), who brought with him the iconic Batmobile and Batcycle.
Over on the second floor, guests unleashed their powers on the dance floor all night with DJ Monopoli, and even participated in a Superhero Costume Change Contest to see who could change into a superhero costume the fastest.
Guests quenched their thirst for vigilance at the Avengers Bar, which served tasty drinks such as “The Hulk,” “Iron Man,” and “Black Widow.” Visitors also enjoyed a delicious Highland Park Whiskey and Partida Tequila tasting courtesy of Super Buy Rite Wine and Spirits.
In the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium and LSC Giant Dome Theater, viewers enjoyed two new shows: the “Looking for Life” live planetarium show, which explored the possibilities of life outside Earth, and the “Lasers and Heroes” laser show, which set high-tech lasers to classic superhero tracks.
Midnight Market also returned this month with delicious $5 plates from local vendors. This month’s vendors included Taste of Poland, Guac Spot, El Lechon de Negron, Eemas Cuisine, Gusti di Sicilia, Ma and Pa Tx Mex BBQ, Stack Happy Sweets, and Meta.
This month, we were joined by our friends at Comcast Xfinity, who invited a select number of guests to experience a stunning view atop LSC’s Observation Tower and receive free swag bags.
