Things we're obsessed with: 3D-printed Porgs!

Science News

Audiences fell in love with BB-8 when Star Wars: The Force Awakens opened in 2015. Now, with The Last Jedi opening on Dec. 15, 2017, viewers have an ever newer creature to obsess over (though we'll never stop loving over BB-8, obviously).

They're Porgs! They're cute, they're cuddly, and they can fly. And though the movie hasn't even come out yet, fans are already creating their own Porg merchandise. Our favorite is this 3D-printed Porg. Designer Fotis Mint has the design up on their website, so with the right tools, you can make one yourself.

You can even make a screaming one:

Interested in making your own 3D-printed creations, but don't know where to begin? You're in luck! Our saber-making workshop in the LSC MakerLab begins this weekend. In this 3-class course (held Dec. 2, 9, and 16), you'll learn to make your own glowing saber using 3D printers, vacuformers, and other programming tools.

Cost is $200 per participant for the entire series. Ages 10 to 100! To book your spot in the class, call us at 201.253.1310 or email sales@lsc.org.

If you can't make it to this December's workshop, don't worry because we'll have another one in February. Click here to learn more about our upcoming weekend workshops in the LSC MakerLab.

(Thanks to htxt.co.za for bringing our attention to the 3D-printed Porg!)
