Liberty Science Center features experiences for guests of all ages and abilities every day. On our Sensory Days, we offer an entire day of science learning specifically designed for children on the autism spectrum or those with other sensory sensitivities.
Our next Sensory Day will be November 10, 2025.
Developed in consultation with experts from Children’s Specialized Hospital, Sensory Day allows guests to explore the Center with reduced wait times and smaller crowds, and experience exhibitions at their own pace. Multiple low-sensory zones are available for quiet breaks, and sensory kits with fidgets and noise-reducing headphones may be borrowed upon request.
A new social narrative highlighting experiences and a picture-based sensory map identifying areas in the building with bright lights, high volume, tight spaces, strong smells, live animals, and other notable features will be shared with all guests in advance to help them plan their day.
We are also a Certified Sensory Inclusive® Venue, enhancing our accessibility and inclusion for visitors with sensory needs. In partnership with Kulture City, LSC is committed to creating sensory-inclusive STEM programming and providing an inclusive experience for all visitors. Our staff receives training from leading medical and neurodiversity professionals on how to recognize and support individuals with sensory needs, as well as how to handle situations of sensory overload.
