Giddy up! This Thursday, Sept. 20 is #LSCAfterDark: Whiskey in the Wild West, our next LSC After Dark event for guests 21 and over. Click here to get tickets for the event, 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm.

On this night, the Science Center transforms into the Old West for a night of whiskey, hoedowns, and more. Enjoy experiments and activities inspired by the American Frontier. Visit the saloon and then hit the dance floor!

1) Search for gold!

YEEEHAWWW! Rumor has it there is GOLD buried in Jersey City. Look for it in our Gold Sifting Lab, and learn how to distinguish between fool’s gold and real gold.

2) Free whiskey tasting

Yum! At LSC After Dark: Whiskey in the Wild West, we’ll have a delicious whiskey tasting brought in part by Jersey City Super Buy-Rite. Enjoy tastings from Misunderstood Whiskey, Stranahan’s Whiskey, Westland Whiskey, and Bruichladdich Whiskey.

3) The Spider Maze

Experience one of Liberty Science Center’s most popular Halloween activities, The Spider Maze! As you travel through this giant, webby maze, you’ll learn about different kinds of spiders and their unique traits. You’ll encounter many different kinds of spiders along the way, but don’t worry, none of them are real and none of them will frighten you!

4) More outdoor adventures

Summer isn’t over just yet! In addition to The Spider Maze, you can enjoy our popular outdoor adventure, Wildlife Challenge, which will be open this month at LSC After Dark. Jump, crawl, and climb your way through our thrilling obstacle course!

Afterward, lounge on the outdoor patio with a drink and enjoy amazing views of the NYC skyline.

5) Food vendors from Midnight Market

Midnight Market returns again this month with local food vendors! Enjoy delicious $5 food plates from a variety of cuisines. (Cash only, please.)

6) Specialty Whiskey Bar

In addition to our whiskey tasting, you can enjoy delicious drinks at our Specialty Whiskey Bar. Try the Bourbon Cowboy, Apple Pie, or Fireball Sangria!

Not a fan of whiskey? We’ll also have beer, wine, and smoking cocktails available for purchase.

7) Bull riding and cow milking challenge

Hold on to your ten-gallon hats! Test your bull riding skills with a mechanical bull, and challenge other guests to see who can last the longest.

Plus, ready to milk some cows? Compete against your friends in this delightfully dairy challenge and see who is the fastest milker this side of the Mississippi!

8) Last chance for Grossology

This is your last chance to experience LSC’s premium exhibition, Grossology, before it closes! For an additional $6, you’ll get to explore our exhibition all about the disgusting (yet fascinating) way the human body works. Become a dust particle and walk through a giant nose, climb a human skin wall with warts, hairs, and wounds, create different gas-like sounds at the Toot Toot Area, and more!

9) Shows in the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium and LSC Giant Dome Theater

The Western Hemisphere’s biggest planetarium is open at LSC After Dark! On Thursday night, you can experience our planetarium show, “To Worlds Beyond: Journey Through the Solar System,” or our western-themed laser show.

LSC is a nonprofit organization, and when you make an additional $5 donation to support our programs for 91,000 students from at-risk communities, we’ll thank you with a ticket to one of these exhilarating shows. (Please make your donation in person at the event.)

10) Westworld photo op

Calling all Westworld fans! Our MakerLab team is using 3D printers to recreate Ford's office from Season 1. Get your photo taken with it and share it online using hashtag #LSCAfterDark.

11) Snake Venom Lab

Do you know what to do if you’re bitten by a snake, or the type of snakes that are venomous? Slither over to our Snake Venom Lab and learn all about the effect that snake venom has on your blood.

12) Hoppity Hops race

Race against your friends in our Hoppity Hops activity, where you’ll get on a bouncy horse and hop your way across the room!

13) Free bandanas!

Show off your wild west attitude! We’re giving out free bandanas at the door while supplies last.

14) Rock the dance floor

Head to the dance floor and rock out with DJ Mavric all night long!
