On Aug. 15, travel back in time 150 million years to LSC After Dark: Wine-O-Saurs, our next adventure for guests 21 and over! Click here for tickets.
At this prehistoric party, you’ll dance with dinosaurs and enjoy delicious wine tastings. You’ll also search for fossils in LSC’s popular summer exhibition, Dino Dig.
Don’t have your tickets yet? Let us convince you! Here are 14 reasons you can’t miss LSC After Dark: Wine-O-Saurs:
Dino Dig is open for the summer! In our outdoor adventure, you’ll become a paleontologist and dig through 35 tons of sand to uncover more than 60 fossils – many of them replicas of those discovered in Montana by Jack Horner, the famed paleontologist who inspired Jurassic Park.
You might uncover T-rex bones and teeth, an egg nest with a baby Maiasaura, and a 6-foot-long Triceratops skull. This year, we also have prehistoric marine animals, including the Plesiosaur, Ichthyosaur, and Ammonite.
Yum! Enjoy a refreshing drink at our sangria bar, with flavors that include berry, rose apple melon, and peach.
We’ll also have lots of dino-inspired cocktails, including the Fossil Fuel, Pearydactyl, and RAWR’N Tea.
In addition to the sangria bar and dino-inspired cocktails, we’ll also have a complimentary wine tasting to help you channel your inner “wine-o-saur”!
How does it feel to move like a dinosaur? You’ll find out in our Dino Obstacle Course by putting on some dinosaur feet, tails, and masks and trying your skill at several different challenges. See if you can beat your friends!
How much do you know about the asteroid that (potentially) killed the dinosaurs? Did you know that when it impacted the Earth, it was traveling between 10-20 miles per second?
Discover more about massive impacts like this one in our Cosmic Collisions planetarium show, playing at 7:00 pm and 8:30 pm in LSC’s Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium, the biggest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere.
LSC is a nonprofit organization, and when you make an additional $5 donation to support our programs for 91,000 students from at-risk communities, we’ll thank you with a ticket to this exhilarating show. (Please make your donation in person at the event.)
It’s finally happening – we’re giving Gaga her own laser show! In the Lady Gaga Laser Show, you’ll rock out to hits from Mother Monster set against high-tech lasers. Catch the show at 7:45 pm and 9:15 pm.
Like the planetarium show, you can experience the Lady Gaga Laser Show when you make an additional $5 donation to support our programs for 91,000 students from at-risk communities. (Please make your donation in person at the event.)
Midnight Market returns this month with delicious snacks from local vendors, at only $5 per plate. Cash only, please!
What can we learn about dinosaurs by studying animals that are still around today? Check out our animal artifacts table and browse through different items, such as a feather from LSC's green-winged macaw (which is considered a non-avian dinosaur!) and eggs from a tortoise to explore the connection between prehistoric and modern day animals.
Did you know the horseshoe crab has been around longer than dinosaurs? Experience our Prehistoric Touch Tank and touch real animals that have been on this planet for an extremely long amount of time!
At every LSC After Dark event, our Innovation Station brings you the latest in must-see tech! This month, we’re joined by the companies SkyeBrowse and Garden City Grown.
SkyeBrowse, the brainchild of multiple research projects at Rutgers University, is an app that helps police officers use drone technology to gather information about car crashes. This helps reduce the time it takes to conduct crime scene investigations.
Garden City Grown is a local indoor hydroponic farm that grows rare and unique herbs for cocktail bars. They deliver locally all year round, which means fresher herbs to mix and garnish cocktails!
The night will be filled with different fossil adventures and activities! Make your own fossil in our hands-on lab. Look through marl to uncover bones, shark teeth, shells, and more. Study fossils to discover what stage in geologic time they came from!
This is your last chance to experience our premium exhibition, Sean Kenney’s Art Made with LEGO® Bricks!
In this exhibition, you’ll experience stunning sculptures made with LEGO bricks, all created by Brooklyn artist Sean Kenney. These sculptures explore our relationship with nature and wild animals, depicting pandas, tree frogs, polar bears, hummingbirds, and more. There’s even a hands-on play zone where you can dream up and build your own creation using LEGO pieces!
Sean Kenney’s Art Made with LEGO® Bricks is available for an additional $6.
Make sure you head upstairs to the fourth floor and enjoy the view of the beautiful NYC skyline on our balcony!
