Dive thousands of feet into the ocean for our next LSC After Dark event, “Under the Sea,” on March 21, 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm! Click here for tickets.

Guests 21 and over are invited to join us for this underwater adventure. Grab a drink and meet some fascinating aquatic creatures. Explore ways to protect our oceans via games, activities, and experiments. Learn the importance of oysters to our ecosystem. Come face-to-face with a real shark!

1) Meet a shark and more at the See the Sea Expo

When you enter the building, be sure to stop by our See the Sea Expo where you’ll meet real aquatic creatures and learn what you can do to protect our oceans!

2) Get hands-on with robots, augmented reality, and more tech at the Innovation Station

You can experience the latest in innovative technology every month at LSC After Dark’s Innovation Station!

This month, we’re joined by Apprentice – who will be letting guests try out their augmented reality glasses – and Temi, the personal robot company. Try asking Temi questions, giving it directions, and seeing the robot in action!

3) Enjoy a drink at the Rum Bar

Yum! Swim up to the Rum Bar and enjoy one of our specialty cocktails: “Beach Bum,” “Malibu,” or “Captain’s Special.”

4) Experience the Beatles Laser Show

Hop into your yellow submarine and ride over to our newest laser show, the Beatles Laser Show! Experience the show at 7:45 pm and 9:15 pm in our massive theater.

5) Explore Oceans in Space at our new planetarium show

In addition to the Beatles Laser Show, you’re invited to experience our newest planetarium show, Oceans in Space, playing at 7:00 pm and 8:30 pm in our Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium, the biggest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere.

Travel to Jupiter’s large moon Europa and Saturn’s small moon Enceladus, both known to have liquid oceans below their frozen surfaces. You’ll also take a trip to Mars, where an underwater lake was found last summer.

6) Enjoy delicious snacks from Midnight Market

Midnight Market returns this month with delicious food from local vendors, at only $5 per plate. Cash only please!

7) New Microbes Rule! exhibition

Experience LSC's newest exhibition, Microbes Rule! In this stunning gallery, you'll see microbes in a whole new way via trend-setting art, music, and interactive touch screens.

Discover a glowing gallery of microbial art made by microbiologists, synthetic biologists, and artists using cutting-edge scientific techniques. Create a virtual microbe painting at an interactive touch table. Experience Streptomyces griseus, a microbe with significant historical importance to New Jersey (it was discovered at Rutgers and led to the first cure for tuberculosis), by smelling its earthy scent and touching a giant version of a Streptomyces griseus colony.

8) Solve a mystery in LSC’s Sherlock Holmes exhibition

Follow the footprints, study the clues, and crack the case in The International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes! For an additional $6, you can experience LSC’s premium exhibition and solve a thrilling new mystery in the spirit of Sherlock Holmes.

9) Dissect a squid

Take your high school biology class to the next level and dissect a real squid in our newest lab!

10) Experience a drag show...mermaid style!

Jersey City drag superstars Kimmy Sumony and Olivia Lux will be here with a stunning mermaid drag show at 8:45 pm. Don’t miss it!

12) Check out Oceans: Our Blue Planet in 3D

New ocean science and technology has allowed us to go further into the unknown than we ever thought possible. In our 3D movie, Oceans: Our Blue Planet – narrated by Kate Winslet – you’ll leap for joy with dolphins, meet fascinating creatures in the coral reefs, and explore mysteries of the abyss in this extraordinary journey.

Oceans: Our Blue Planet plays at 7:00 pm and 9:15 pm.

13) Meet a mermaid at the Glitter Hair Station

Ever meet a mermaid? Now’s your chance! Get a photo and glitter up your hair when you stop for a visit with the mermaid at the Glitter Hair Station.

14) Touch a creature at the Touch Tank

Ready to dip your hands into some exciting science? Experience LSC’s Touch Tank and touch spiny sea urchins, carnivorous snails, slippery shellfish, and more.

15) Identify organisms via their shells

Use a dichotomous key chart to learn how to identify different aquatic creatures via their shells! Take a peek at a shell and figure out whose home it belonged to.

16) Rock out on the dance floor!

At LSC After Dark: Under the Sea, we’ll be joined by DJ Dana Lu and DJ Luv. Let off some steam and unwind on the dance floor!
