BASF Kids’ Labs at Liberty Science Center offer engaging ways for guests to explore the wonders of hands-on chemistry. Through a variety of interactive sessions, visitors can explore different scientific specialties and discover concepts in ways that match different learning styles. This year brings even more to explore, with an exciting lineup of sessions at LSC covering a range of fascinating topics!
Kicking off on April 18, we’re starting strong with our Freshwater pHun lab, exploring the different ways scientists can determine the health of water out in the natural world. Through simulated New Jersey bodies of water, guests can use real pH test strips to measure their acidity or alkalinity, and further understand why pH isn’t the only factor in understanding water health. Small (but important!) creatures like mayflies, dragonflies, and snails, are essential indicators of water quality. Explore how merging the study of these animals with pH testing creates a great way to understand water’s health in the real world!
This lab will be offered at 11:30, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 in the Microbes Rule! exhibit on April 18. Make sure to stop by to dive into Freshwater pHun at LSC!
The BASF Kids’ Lab is designed for children ages 6–12, with at least one adult chaperone per four children. Participation is free with paid LSC admission or membership.
