And…we’re back! After two long years, Liberty Science Center’s 21+ event series returned on Dec. 16, 2021 with LSC After Dark: Holiday Edition.
Guests reunited with old friends, revisited their favorite exhibitions (and experienced some brand new ones!), sipped on delicious smoking cocktails, rocked their holiday sweaters, and more.
Here are just a few of our favorite parts from the event:
Santa Claus made an appearance at LSC After Dark this year!
This month’s Innovation Station experience was an augmented reality photo booth. And to be clear – this wasn’t any regular photo booth! Kris Kringle himself showed up in everyone’s photos.
Elf. Home Alone. Christmas Vacation! Guests showed off their holiday movie expertise at our trivia competition, held inside the Joseph D. Williams 3D Science Theater.
Guests kicked off their shoes and took a spin on the Sock Skating Rink. Made from a high-tech synthetic polymer surface, this rink wasn’t made of real ice…but it was really slippery!
There were so many great outfits at LSC After Dark: Holiday Edition. Several attendees showed off their looks on the dance floor during an Ugly Sweater Contest, with a few of them taking home prizes.
Garlic knots from Hold My Knots and pernil from El Lechon De Negron were just some of the delicious snacks guests munched on in the food hall, made up of local vendors from Midnight Market.
Guests treated themselves to complimentary drink tastings, courtesy of Penelope Bourbon, Great Jones Bourbon, and 1800 Coconut Tequila.
Over in the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium, the biggest planetarium in America, guests enjoyed two amazing shows.
In Wonders of the Night Sky, guests learned from our live planetarium presenter all about what they’re seeing when they look up at the stars. Then, in Laser Wonderland, guests rocked out to holiday hits set to trippy lasers.
Formerly known as the Jersey City Oddities Market, the Jersey City Alternative Art Market returned to LSC After Dark this month with amazing, unique gifts from local vendors.
Elf Monopoly, Christmas Charades, and Dreidel Pop n’ Spin were just a few of the fun board games guests played. We hope there weren’t too many fights within some of the more competitive friend groups!
SUE the Tyrannosaurus rex was so happy to make some new friends, especially considering all theirs died 67 million years ago!
Over in SUE: The T. rex Experience, guests embarked on a prehistoric adventure and encountered an exact replica of SUE, measuring 40 feet long and 13 feet tall at the hip.
It’s been a wild two years, so guests let it all out on the dance floor with DJ Cream!
Certainly one of the most beautiful parts of the night was seeing people reconnect with their old friends after being apart for so long!
We’re so glad to be back, and we’re not stopping now. Click here to get tickets now for LSC After Dark: Y2K on Jan. 20, 2022 from 6 pm – 10 pm!
P.S. In partnership with the Jersey City Mutual Aid Society, we also held a toy drive at the event. If you are able, you can still make a purchase to the toy drive via their Amazon wish list.
