Discover National Children’s Dental Health Month virtually with Captain Supertooth

Our Community

Every February, Liberty Science Center partners with Delta Dental in celebration of National Children’s Dental Health Month!

Usually we celebrate this month with a fun event at the Science Center. This year, the event has gone virtual!

Take a look at this post below from our friends at Delta Dental and learn more about how you can celebrate National Children’s Dental Health Month online:

Every superhero brings a unique contribution to our universe, sharing powers, strength, and wisdom. While some superheroes are more renowned, each possesses distinct abilities that enhance our world.

Meet Captain Supertooth, a superhero close to our hearts.

  • He's faster than a high-speed dental drill!
  • Stronger than your masseter muscle! What is that you may ask? It’s the muscle that opens and closes your jaw as you chew AND can close the teeth with a force as strong as up to 200 pounds!
  • The ultimate defender of healthy smiles, fighting tooth decay wherever he goes!
  • And he's best friends with your dentist and the Tooth Fairy!

Captain Supertooth is on a mission to empower smiles and promote children's dental health.

Free Online Resources Brought to You by Captain Supertooth
This month, Captain Supertooth is sharing more of his wisdom for healthy smiles. He has created special videos for youngsters and adults alike, offering grin-worthy tips for all. Also, explore an array of Supertooth worksheets in our free Captain Supertooth educational toolkit.

The highlight is the video messages, bringing Supertooth into your home or classroom, showcasing his smile superpowers. Learn about breaking thumb-sucking habits, the importance of drinking water for oral health, the super-duper protection mouthguards provide, our special superpower, why your dentist is your hero, and his favorite time of the year.

Breaking News from Inside a Giant Mouth!
Even though Captain Supertooth has hung up his bright purple (and sometimes green!) boots and no longer visits his friends in PreK – 1st grade at school each February, that doesn’t mean The Captain isn’t still hard at work defending healthy smiles, fighting tooth decay, and spreading his message of, "keep brushing, keep smiling, and keep those teeth nice and healthy."

As a matter of fact, Supertooth created a special 10-minute video just for YOU! Yes, kids (and adults), we are talking to YOU! He hopes this will help make up for him not being able to visit his friends this school year.

Teachers and School Nurses, we hope you’ll share this with your students in the classroom. Moms and Dads, perhaps this is the perfect engaging video to share with your kids on tablets or mobile devices while on a quick trip in the car, or maybe it will be a good mix-up in between Bluey or Paw Patrol. Either way, we hope all of you will help us spread Captain Supertooth’s message and soar through this year with healthier, happier smiles.

In this new video, The Captain brings you breaking news LIVE from inside a giant mouth where you’ll get to experience and see why keeping our mouths clean and nice and healthy is so important. Supertooth also teaches us the history of some dental tools, smile-friendly foods, and more.

While the Captain's main fanbase tends to be pre-K through 1st grade, his message of "keep brushing, keep smiling, and keep those teeth nice and healthy" is a reminder for everyone. When adults model good dental health routines, it benefits the kids in our lives.

The Captain's BFF: The Tooth Fairy
We would be remiss not to mention that the Tooth Fairy has her special day this month on February 28th—National Tooth Fairy Day!

Keeping Healthy Smiles a Priority All Year Long
While Captain Supertooth (and Delta Dental) like to highlight the importance of children’s dental health during February, National Children’s Dental Health Month, we encourage kids (and adults) to make their oral health a priority all year long.
