We want to give a huge thanks to Robert Lence, the distinguished storyboard editor, head of story, animator and writer of the Academy Award-winning Pixar and Disney films “Toy Story,” “The Lion King,” and “Beauty and the Beast!”
Robert joined us at Liberty Science Center last weekend to celebrate the grand opening of our newest exhibition, The Science Behind Pixar.
On Friday, Oct. 13, right outside the new exhibit, Lence led an animation class for kids from Kindle Education Public Charter School in Jersey City.
In this class, Lence took students through the process of creatively brainstorming ideas, storyboarding them, and showing how these ideas come to life through animation.
The students were all tasked with telling a story in three drawings – a beginning, middle, and end – featuring characters from “Toy Story” and in various locations such as a Starbucks, grocery store, or a Taylor Swift concert. Robert then reviewed everyone’s drawings and gave helpful feedback!
On Saturday, Oct. 14, Robert joined us again at LSC, signing autographs, answering questions, and giving out prizes right outside The Science Behind Pixar. Guests also learned about Robert’s new book that he illustrated, “Wrestling the ABC’s.”
Thanks again to Robert for helping us celebrate our amazing new exhibition! Click here to learn more about The Science Behind Pixar and get tickets now.
