How we're celebrating our mole rat queen's birthday

LSC News

This weekend our naked mole rat queen turns nine years old, and we're celebrating with a birthday fit for a queen!

Join us this Saturday, Sept. 22 or Sunday, Sept. 23 at 1:00 pm in our Eat and Be Eaten exhibition. Meet her highness in person and join us as we sing "happy birthday" and surprise her with a cake.

At the party, one of our animal presenters will explore the fascinating aging process of naked mole rats. For example, did you know that they continue to remain active and youthful even as they grow elderly? And did you know they can live for up to 32 years, which is incredibly long for an animal of their size?

But before the party, we need your help! We still haven't decided which cake to give the queen yet. There's a lot of pressure riding on this, and we can't mess it up.

Vote in our poll. Which cake should we give her? Your options are the carrot cake (asscher cut root vegetables tiered with creamy proteins and garnished with carrot crunks) or the red velvet cake (sliced beets layered with decadent proteins, topped with carrot sticks).

Head over to our Facebook page to vote in the poll.

We can't wait for you to join us this weekend. The birthday party is included in your general admission ticket.
