Kids are learning to be birdwatchers at Liberty Science Center

LSC News

Did you know the study of birds is called “ornithology”?

It’s also the theme of Liberty Science Center’s newest activity for young learners! Every day, you can experience We Explore: Birdology, an interactive adventure that lets kids ages 2-5 learn all about feathered friends.

There are two ways to experience the activity: you can either be a birdwatcher, or you can be the bird!

When you’re the birdwatcher, you’ll channel your inner citizen scientist and grab a pair of binoculars to seek out different northeastern songbirds. How many can you find? Be on the lookout for red-winged blackbirds, downy woodpeckers, and American goldfinches.

When you’re the bird, you’ll grab a pair of wings and become a blue jay! Learn how birds create their nests by using toy sticks to build your own.

Experience We Explore: Birdology on weekdays from 9:00 am – 10:30 am and 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm, and weekends from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm.

We Explore is an interactive adventure series for kids ages 2-5, held in our I Explore exhibition, with new themes all the time.
