LSC After Dark gets freaky at ‘Freak Show’ event
On June 16, 2022, things got freaky at Liberty Science Center! That night was LSC After Dark: Freak Show, our latest event exclusively for guests 21+.
From surreal experiments to incredible performers, it was an unforgettable evening! Check out some of our favorite highlights below:
Insanely Talented Performers
We were joined by performers from the Coney Island Circus Sideshow, including the Sword Swallower, Strongman, and Blockhead. They hung out on the dance floor throughout the night demonstrating their incredible skills!
Freak Show 101
And if you were curious how the “freaks” from the Coney Island Circus Sideshow were able to be so…freaky!...you were in luck! At the “Freak Show 101” presentation, guests learned the tips, tricks, and secrets of the sideshow.
Braving the Bed of Nails
The Coney Island Circus Sideshow also brought along their Bed of Nails, and let guests try it out. Don’t worry…nobody got hurt. ;)
Crickets at the Bug Buffet
That night saw the return of our Bug Buffet! Guests munched on tasty BBQ crickets, and discovered they don’t actually taste so bad (really!).
Fun at the Food Hall
And for guests who didn’t feel like munching on crickets…not a problem! Our Food Hall served delicious bites throughout the evening, plus beer, wine, smoking cocktails, White Claw, and more.
Tattoos!
We were joined by Jersey City tattoo shops 7 Souls Tattoo and Heart in Mind Tattoo!
Heart in Mind Tattoo gave out temporary tattoos, while 7 Souls Tattoo offered “get what you get” tattoos – meaning, a gumball machine revealed what random tattoo guests would receive when they visited their shop!
Metallica Laser Show and What’s Next in Space Planetarium Show
Over in the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium – the biggest planetarium in America – guests rocked out at the Metallica Laser Show, and discovered the biggest astronomy stories of today in the What’s Next in Space planetarium show.
Lawn Games
Outside, guests enjoyed the summer weather on our Dino Dig Adventure patio and played lawn games like Connect 4 and corn hole.
Celebrating Pride Month with Art InQlusive
In celebration of Pride Month, we were joined by local vendor Art InQlusive, with amazing gifts and designs celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community.
Creepy, Crawly New Friends
Over at the Creepy Crawly Corner, guests met some of LSC’s most “freakiest” invertebrates, including cockroaches, tarantulas, and millipedes.
Getting Freaky on the Dance Floor!
Shoutout to DJ James Yeager who kept things freaky on the dance floor all night long!
