Whiskey, wine, and more! June 21 was LSC After Dark: Science on the Rocks, our latest event for guests 21 and over. This month’s theme was all about the science of alcohol!

All night, guests enjoyed drinks, relaxed outside, and enjoyed activities such as our Distillation Lab where they learned how alcohol is made.

Additional activities included the “Physics of Beer Pong,” where LSC educators taught guests the science behind the perfect beer pong throw (for this activity, we filled the cups with water!). Afterward, guests were invited to test their new skills against other partygoers in multiple water pong challenges held throughout the night.

In PSE&G Court, guests learned how alcohol affects their bodies in the “Drunk Goggle Course.” Guests rode in carts while wearing drunk goggles, seeing up-close how dangerous it is to get behind the wheel while inebriated.

There were lots of amazing things to drink all night. Guests enjoyed beverages at the specialty cocktail and whiskey bar. Plus, whiskey tastings from Misunderstood Whiskey and wine tastings from Gallo Wine, both courtesy of Jersey City Super Buy-Rite.

We had lots of special shows and presentations, too. Over in the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium and LSC Giant Dome Theater, guests rocked out to the Queen Laser Show, as well as our NEW planetarium show, Planets in the Summer Sky, all about Venus, Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn’s appearances in the summer night sky.

In the Joseph D. Williams 3D Science Theater, guests enjoyed special presentations on the wine-making process.

With the warm weather officially upon us, we opened up our back patio so guests could lounge and drink against the beautiful city skyline. We also opened up our popular summer exhibition, Wildlife Challenge, for guests to enjoy.

Midnight Market returned this month, with delicious snacks from local food vendors.

This month’s vendors included Moffle Bar, Guac Spot, Uncle Jimmy’s Cheesecakes, Eemas Cuisine, META, Tojo’s Kitchen, The Laboratory Catering, and El Lechon De Negron.

On the dance floor, DJ BizzNice kept the energy alive all night!

Toward the end of the evening, everyone was surprised by a special visitor – a dinosaur! Guests danced and took selfies with the dinosaur, and learned about July’s dinosaur-centric party, “Wine-O-Saurs,” on July 19.
