LSC celebrates Sensory Day with accommodations to light and volume throughout the building

LSC News

Liberty Science Center celebrated Sensory Day on Dec. 6, 2023!

On this day, we welcomed several school groups from New Jersey and New York to the Science Center as we made accommodations throughout the building, with extra awareness on lights, volume, and more.

Just a few of the accommodations included turning off the Hoberman Sphere in the open position; turning off the blowing nose in Microbes Rule!; covering the lights and turning off the background music of the Dream Machine; and keeping the Interactive Theater available as a Quiet Zone.

Additionally, bean bag chairs, weighted blankets, and fidget toys were available upon request. Noise canceling headphones were available in the planetarium, and the volume of music throughout the building was lowered.

Throughout the day, guests met animals, built different objects in Block Party, enjoyed the Wow! Cloud liquid nitrogen spectacle, and so much more.
