Liberty Science Center has been temporarily closed since March, and we thoroughly miss all of our students, teachers, families, and partners! However, we are so happy to still connect with everyone in this new virtual learning environment. As more and more students and families continue to share their projects with us, we would like to take a moment to celebrate the work of two of our young scientists!
These emerging engineers, who are part of the Cherry Hill School in the River Edge school district, shared their maple seed models after a recent virtual program with our STEM education staff. In our program, Maple Seed Models, we explored how a maple seed gets the space it needs to grow and survive. We talked all about how the maple seed gets what it needs thanks to their special wings which lower the force of gravity, and then created a model to observe this process in action.
We were thrilled to see our young scientists sharing their models in action with both teachers and LSC staff. Our first photo comes from an excited fifth grader:
This video below comes from a fourth grader:
Both of our featured young scientists have attended field trips to LSC in past school years, but this was their first very first remote lesson. We look forward to welcoming them back to the building very soon!
Thank you to these young scientists for sharing your work with us! And a special thanks to all of our families, teachers, and friends who continue to celebrate the power, promise, and pure fun of science and technology with us on platforms like Zoom, Google Meets, and Facebook Live.
