On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, Liberty Science Center celebrated its latest Community Evening event, with 1,100 guests in attendance!
LSC offers free Community Evenings multiple times throughout the year, where the building is open at no cost to students and families from qualifying school districts.
This Community Evening was supported by public funds from the Jersey City Arts and Culture Trust Fund. The event featured a scavenger hunt, a performance by the students of Mengwei Shen Violin, and experiments such as “Science Live” and “Owl Pellet Dissection.
We also featured a program led by two very special guests!
This program, titled “Spectacle of a Lifetime,” was led by Jeremy Lewan and Andrea John, NASA-Partner Eclipse Ambassadors who educate underserved communities across the tri-state area about eclipse science and safety.
Throughout the night, Jeremy and Andrea explored the mechanics of the upcoming eclipse in April, taught safety precautions, and conducted fun experiments to help guests understand how an eclipse operates.
We want to give a huge thanks to Jeremy and Andrea for joining us, as well as a huge thanks to everyone who came out to our latest Community Evening!
