LSC’s MiniMed Extravaganza returns with more medical-focused organizations and activities

LSC News

In recognition of National Doctors’ Day, Liberty Science Center welcomed nearly 350 students on March 19, 2024 to explore, engage, and experience the healthcare field at an unprecedented level!

Back by popular demand, Liberty Science Center once again hosted the MiniMed Extravaganza event, giving learners of all backgrounds the chance to connect with healthcare professionals, ask questions to medical experts, and learn about the diverse fields within medicine.

Multiple organizations participated in the event, such as the NJSharing Network, Young Women In Bio, Fairleigh Dickinson University, the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians, the Jersey City Fire Department, and the American Heart Association.

Some of the day’s activities included crafting mosaics with pipette instruments; exploring anatomical models using augmented reality; constructing red blood cells in a virtual reality app; experiencing CPR demos; viewing presentations on space medicine in the planetarium; and participating in mini sessions of LSC’s Live From Surgery program.
