Guests at We Explore: Light, Color, Shadow light table

LSC’s new young learner activity explores light, color, and shadow

LSC News

What happens when light passes through a colorful object? What happens when light cannot pass through at all?

The science of light and color is the topic of our newest We Explore adventure for young learners: Light, Color, Shadow! In this interactive activity for kids ages 2-5, young guests will try light play and color mixing at light tables with color paddles.

Light is a source of ever-changing wonder for children. From very young ages, kids begin to realize that light can change, make shadows, and have direct sources such as the Sun.

When the lights go down, kids are then invited to enter the Liberty Shadow Theater to create an original show with shadow puppets that were laser-cut right here at LSC! The shadow puppet theater is designed to encourage pretend play – a hallmark activity of early childhood.

Experience We Explore: Light, Color, Shadow on your next visit to LSC! You can find it on the second floor in LSC’s I Explore exhibition. Check the daily schedule upon arrival for times.
