From the first note of live music to the last puzzle solved, Community Evening on March 4 was a great success here at Liberty Science Center, welcoming nearly 1,000 guests!
Community Evening is a special night of free programming welcoming families from historically high-needs school districts for an evening of hands-on discovery. Liberty Science Center supported over 4,000 guests in 2025, and opened its doors once again for the first Community Evening of 2026.
Special programming for the evening included a lively performance by the MengWei Orchestra, a talented local junior ensemble from Jersey City, showcasing classic string arrangements as well as fresh interpretations on current day pop hits.
This night of programming also included a sneak peek of some math-inspired activities making their way to LSC for “Math Madness” weekend, a Pi-Day celebration, in the “Math Zone!” This special section included games and activities that explored probability, shape-shifting puzzles, and math-inspired art, offering a playful reminder that math can be both educational AND fun!
Of course, the evening wouldn’t be complete without the experiences that make Liberty Science Center a family-favorite destination. Guests explored live science shows, planetarium presentations, and immersive 3D movies throughout the night. Whether you explored the new Izzo Family Touch Tank, treated yourself to a Frank Sinatra Laser Show, tested your luck with games of chance and probability, or took part in dozens of other activities throughout the building, there was something for everyone to explore!
With music, math, science, and discovery all under one roof, this Community Evening left us eagerly awaiting the next. Check back soon for more information on our next Community Evening!
