On the cusp of LSC’s returning MiniMed Extravaganza, it is time to take a look back at the year-closing event and possibly get a hint at what’s to come. Sliding perfectly into 2024’s World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week, LSC’s third-ever MiniMed Extravaganza was an exciting wrap-up to an incredible year in science.
Many familiar groups - such as Fairleigh Dickinson University, Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, and Young Women in Bio - returned to Liberty Science Center to give students an unprecedented hands-on experience in the medical field.
Rounding out the installment, a host of new groups - namely Bristol Myers Squibb, the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Johnson & Johnson, McNair High School Sheba Medical Center, SOAPY, and STEAMpark, Inc. - partnered with LSC to expand the opportunities to the medically-minded students.
The day included such activities as a microbe staining lab, hand hygiene challenge, laparoscopic instrument simulation, museum-wide scavenger hunt, and medical virtual reality experience, Students also connected with the broader medical field through a college and career fair, medical space science presentations, and “Meet the Surgeon: Heart Transplant” programming with Dr. Margarita Camacho.
Our next MiniMed Extravaganza is scheduled for March 18th, and it promises to be a day packed with astonishing activities focused on autoimmune awareness. Inquire about joining our unmatched medical experience. We hope to see you there!
