LSC News Beyond Rubik's Cube

On Saturday, December 14, Connecticut native Noah Arthurs broke the U.S. Rubik’s Cube blindfolded solve record with a time of 27.36.

Arthurs’ time places him first in the United States and 5th in the world.

The previous record was held by Riley Woo whose time of 31.81 also set the record at the 2013 World Championship.

There were 133 competitors in the 3×3 competition, making the LSC Open the largest Rubik’s competition ever held on the East Coast. The 3×3 overall winner was Timothy Sun, a member of the speedcubing team that broke the Groovik’s Cube world solve record in October.

In April 2014, LSC will premiere Beyond Rubik’s Cube, a traveling exhibition that explores the cultural impact and importance of the Rubik’s Cube. The U.S. National Rubik’s Cube Championship will be held at LSC in August.
